Aviyam rules Yehudah wickedly but is succeeded by his son Asa, who initiates religious reforms and removes idols. Asa clashes with King Baasha of Yisrael and hires Aram to help him. In the north, Yerovam's son Nadav reigns briefly before Baasha assassinates him and wipes out Yerovam's entire family, fulfilling Achiyah's prophecy.
