Dovid's son Amnon pretends to be sick to get his half-sister Tamar alone and assaults her, after which he expels her. Tamar's full brother, Avshalom, harbors intense hatred. He waits two years before inviting Amnon to a sheep-shearing festival, where his servants assassinate Amnon. Avshalom then flees to Geshur.
