Yirmiyahu (Jeremiah) — Perek 26

Following his Temple sermon, Yirmiyahu is put on trial for his life but is spared.

This chapter provides the narrative context for the Temple Sermon of chapter 7. When Yirmiyahu prophesies the Temple's destruction, the priests and prophets demand his execution. The princes and the people spare him, citing the precedent of the prophet Micha in the days of Chizkiyahu. However, another prophet, Uriyah, is extradited from Mitzrayim and killed by King Yehoyakim.
