Melachim Aleph (I Kings) — Perek 20

Achav defeats the massive army of Ben-Hadad of Aram twice, but spares his life, drawing a prophet's condemnation.

Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, besieges Shomron with a massive coalition. Encouraged by a prophet, Achav's small forces launch a surprise attack and defeat them. The Arameans return the next year, claiming Israel's God only has power in the hills, but Achav defeats them again. Achav foolishly spares Ben-Hadad's life, resulting in a prophetic rebuke that Achav will pay with his own life.
