The desolation of Damascus and Northern Israel, the forsaking of pagan altars, and the sudden scattering of enemy hordes.

Damascus ceases to be a city and becomes a ruined heap, while the glory of Ephraim and Northern Israel fades away like a thin, harvested field with only gleanings left on olive branches. On that day, human beings will look to their Maker and ignore pagan altars and Asherah groves. Hostile roaring nations will rush in like mighty waters, only to be chased away by Hashem like chaff before the whirlwind.

• Damascus reduced to a ruined heap and fortress removed from Ephraim
• The glory of Israel thinned out like gleanings of an olive tree
• People turning their gaze toward their Creator instead of idols
• The harvest perishing on a day of grief and desperate pain
• The sudden rebuking and blowing away of roaring hostile nations
