Peg word: Strong man(כח)
STRONG MAN
A STRONG MAN stumbles around drunk, crushing a delicate crown of flowers under his heavy boots.
Rebuke of Ephraim's drunkards, the false covenant with death in Yerushalayim, the precious cornerstone, and the parable of the wise farmer.
Woe to the fading crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, whose pride will be trampled underfoot like early figs. The leaders and priests of Yerushalayim stagger with wine, mocking the prophet's teachings as childish rhymes ('tzav letzav, kav lakav') and boasting of a pact with death. Hashem establishes a precious tested cornerstone in Tzion, warning that a flood will sweep away their lies, using the parable of a farmer's threshing to show His purposeful wisdom.
