Yeshayahu (Isaiah) — Perek 30

Rebuke for forming a rebellious alliance with Egypt, the promise of divine guidance, and the fiery destruction of Assyria in Topheth.

Hashem condemns the rebellious leaders for sending caravans of gold and silver through the dangerous Negev to secure useless Egyptian aid. The people reject true prophetic rebukes, demanding smooth illusions and deceit instead. Despite their obstinacy, Hashem waits to show grace, promising that their teachers will no longer be hidden and a voice will guide their path, concluding with the fiery destruction of Assyria in Topheth prepared by divine breath.

• Rebuke for forming an alliance with Egypt without asking Hashem
• Egyptian help described as completely vain and useless ('Rahab Sit-Still')
• Rejection of truthful prophets in favor of flattering illusions
• Promise of divine mercy, teachers revealed, and paths guided
• The fiery breath of Hashem igniting Topheth to destroy Assyria
