Yeshayahu (Isaiah) — Perek 57

The death of the righteous, condemnation of pagan valley rituals and high places, and Hashem dwelling with the contrite and humble.

The righteous perish and are taken away from coming evil to rest peacefully in their beds. The prophet severely condemns those who engage in debased pagan rituals under oak trees, sacrifice children in rocky valleys, and send perfumes to foreign kings. Yet Hashem, Who inhabits eternity and the holy heights, declares that He dwells with the broken, humble, and contrite spirit to revive them, promising peace to the far and near.

• The righteous gathered away from coming evil to enter into peace
• Severe condemnation of pagan sorcery, valley idolatry, and oak-tree rituals
• The folly of wearying oneself seeking foreign alliances and false gods
• Hashem dwelling in eternity and with the crushed, contrite spirit
• Healing and peace proclaimed to those who are far and near
