Yeshayahu (Isaiah) — Perek 64

The prayer for Hashem to rend the heavens and come down, confession of sins as filthy rags, and the plea of the clay to the Potter.

The prophet fervently prays that Hashem would rend the heavens and descend, causing mountains to quake before His presence as in the ancient days of awe. Confessing that all human righteousness has become like filthy, stained rags and people wither like falling autumn leaves under iniquity, the prophet appeals to Hashem as the Potter while Israel is the clay of His hand, begging Him not to remain silent while the holy Beit HaMikdash lies burned.

• Plea for Hashem to rend the heavens and come down in awe-inspiring fire
• Human righteousness confessed as filthy rags and fading autumn leaves
• No eye has seen a God beside You who acts for those who wait for Him
• Appeal to Hashem: 'You are our Father; we are the clay, You are our Potter'
• Lament over the burned and desolate Beit HaMikdash and ruined holy cities
