Yirmiyahu (Jeremiah) — Perek 34

The people free their Hebrew slaves during the siege, but treacherously force them back into slavery.

Yirmiyahu warns Tzidkiyahu that the city will burn, though the king will die in peace in exile. During the siege, the leaders make a covenant to release all their Hebrew slaves, temporarily gaining Hashem's favor. However, when the Babylonian army temporarily withdraws, they break the covenant and force the freed slaves back into bondage. Hashem proclaims 'liberty' to the sword, pestilence, and famine.
