Yirmiyahu (Jeremiah) — Perek 39

Yerushalayim falls, Tzidkiyahu is captured and blinded, and Yirmiyahu is protected by the Babylonians.

After an 18-month siege, the Babylonians breach the city walls. King Tzidkiyahu attempts to flee at night but is captured in the plains of Yericho. Nevuchadnetzar slaughters Tzidkiyahu's sons before his eyes, blinds him, and binds him in chains. Yerushalayim is burned. By Nevuchadnetzar's explicit order, Yirmiyahu is released from prison and protected.
