Yirmiyahu (Jeremiah) — Perek 47

A brief but fierce prophecy of destruction against the Plishtim (Philistines).

A prophecy concerning the Plishtim, given before Pharaoh struck Gaza. It describes a flood of judgment coming from the north (Bavel) that will overwhelm the land. The fathers will be so terrified they will abandon their children. The destruction of Ashkelon and Gaza is depicted, and the sword of Hashem is told it cannot rest until its work is done.
