Azaryah (Uzziah) reigns righteously in Yehudah for fifty-two years but is afflicted with Tzaraat for offering unauthorized incense, leaving his son Yotam to co-rule. In northern Israel, a succession of kings—Zechariah, Shallum, Menachem, Pekahiah, and Pekach—rule amidst assassinations and civil strife. Pul (Tiglath-Pileser) of Assyria begins invading Israel, exiling its northern inhabitants.
