Achaz rules Yehudah wickedly, practicing human sacrifice, and bribes Assyria for aid, altering the altar in the Beit HaMikdash.

Achaz rules Yehudah with extreme wickedness, introducing abominable Aramean idolatry and passing his son through fire. Besieged by Rezin of Aram and Pekach of Israel, Achaz strips the Beit HaMikdash of silver and gold to bribe Tiglath-Pileser of Assyria for military assistance. Achaz visits Damascus, copies a pagan altar design, and commands the Kohen Uriyahu to build it in Yerushalayim.
