Eliyahu Hanavi ascends to heaven in a fiery whirlwind, and Elisha inherits a double portion of his spirit, performing his first miracles.

Elisha refuses to leave Eliyahu as they travel through Gilgal, Beit-El, Yericho, and across the Jordan River. Eliyahu is taken alive into heaven by a chariot and horses of fire in a whirlwind. Elisha receives Eliyahu's mantle, splits the Jordan, sweetens the toxic waters of Yericho, and curses mocking youths.
