Chizkiyahu's terminal illness, his tearful prayer, the sign of the retreating shadow on the sun dial, and his hymn of thanksgiving.

Chizkiyahu falls terminally ill, and Yeshayahu informs him that he will die; the king turns to the wall and weeps bitterly in prayer. Hashem hears his petition, granting him fifteen additional years of life and promising protection from Assyria, confirming it by moving the shadow on the sun dial ten degrees backward. After being healed with a fig poultice, Chizkiyahu writes a moving hymn thanking Hashem for delivering his soul from the pit.
