Yeshayahu (Isaiah) — Perek 40

Comfort for Tzion, the herald in the wilderness, the supreme majesty and incomparability of the Creator, and renewal of strength.

Yeshayahu opens the prophecies of consolation with the call: 'Nachamu, nachamu ami' (Comfort, comfort My people). A voice cries in the wilderness to level mountains and prepare the highway for Hashem's glorious revelation. The prophet contrasts fragile human mortality with the eternal enduring Word of Hashem, exalting the Creator who holds the oceans in His palm and measures the heavens, promising that those who hope in Hashem will renew their strength and soar like eagles.
