Yeshayahu (Isaiah) — Perek 42

The mission of the Servant of Hashem to bring justice to the nations, a new song of praise, and rebuke of spiritually deaf and blind Israel.

Hashem introduces His beloved Servant, endowed with His spirit to bring justice to the nations gently without breaking a bruised reed or quenching a flickering wick. Hashem appoints him as a covenant for the people and a light to the nations to free captives from dark prisons. A new song of praise is sung across the world, though Hashem laments that Israel remains spiritually deaf and blind to the lessons of judgment.

• The gentle Servant of Hashem bringing justice to the nations
• Appointed as a light to the nations and a covenant for the people
• A new song of global praise sung from sea coasts to mountain peaks
• Hashem marching forth like a warrior to deliver His people
• Israel rebuked for being spiritually blind and deaf to divine lessons
