Yirmiyahu (Jeremiah) — Perek 9

Yirmiyahu wishes to flee into the wilderness to escape the deceitful tongues of his people.

Overwhelmed by the treachery and deceit of his nation, Yirmiyahu wishes for a lodging place in the desert. Hashem calls for the wailing women to mourn the destruction of Yerushalayim. The people are told not to boast in wisdom, might, or wealth, but only in understanding and knowing Hashem, who delights in kindness, justice, and righteousness.
